Eye-opening 4K resolution produces incredibly detailed, high-impact images that are significantly sharper and more true-to-life than lower resolutions.
At 4096 x 2160, Canon's 4K resolution generates a bigger, richer picture made up of more than 8.8 million pixels, meeting the Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI) standard for 4K cinema as well as the QFHD standard resolution (3840 x 2160) for 4K TV. In comparison to popular Full HD (1920 x 1080), the REALiS 4K5020Z laser projector's native 4K resolution produces four times the resolution.
This high resolution can help in a variety of applications ranging from viewing highly detailed works of art in a museum or gallery, to producing highly accurate video and images with a wide depth-of-field to get as close as possible to a real-life experience via a simulation system.
The REALiS 4K5020Z projects clear, bright images at up to 5000 lumens with a contrast ratio of up to 20,000:1 when the Dynamic Contrast function is used – and with a native contrast ratio of up to 3600:1*2. This helps ensure deep blacks, bright whites and outstanding color, clarity, depth and dimension for high-quality images. *2 All white, all black. When Iris function is set to “Close 9”.
The projector's laser light source provides up to 20,000*4 hours in standard use of continuous, reliable, high-quality projection. The hours of operation can be nearly doubled when utilizing the Long Duration modes to up to 20 times longer than a conventional lamp's life. Because there is no lamp to replace, operation is virtually maintenance-free with minimal downtime, which is a key consideration for challenging and hard-to-reach installations. This keeps running costs relatively low when looking at the total life of the product. Other advantages of the laser light source include: Fast Boot Function When Fast Boot Function is set to ON, the startup time is reduced to virtually 2 seconds the next time the projector is started from a standby status. Omnidirectional Projection*5 Because this projector uses a laser light source instead of a conventional lamp, it can be installed at any angle on a 360° axis facing in any direction. A Menu Rotation function also enhances portrait projection, allowing adjustment of the angle of the projector's menu up to 90° left and right. Wider Color Gamut Because the laser light source produces a wide range of colors, the REALiS 4K5020Z covers 99.9% of the sRGB color space to deliver millions of colors. Quiet Modes Quiet Modes reduce the volume of projector operation to around 29 dB for more silent performance to reduce any potential of interfering with audible content.
The exceptional imaging performance of this projector starts with Canon's proprietary AISYS (Aspectual Illumination System) Optical Engine, which utilizes advanced light management technology to maximize the contrast and brightness benefits of the projector's LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) display panels, delivering superior reflectivity and durability while accomplishing high luminance.
Canon's LCOS panels are relatively small in size, allowing for an overall compact projector that delivers high-resolution and high-quality results. With the LCOS panels, the pixels are close together, producing images that are virtually seamless, where with other technologies there may be grid lines visible from their larger spaces between pixels. The result with this projector is an exceptional 4K resolution picture with crisp detail and true-to-life color.
Seven optional interchangeable Genuine Canon lenses enable a wide variety of applications for exceptional image quality and flexibility. A spigot lens mount system is designed so that the lens can be quickly and securely installed in virtually seconds.
Canon has introduced the newest addition to its family of Genuine Canon interchangeable lenses, the all-new RS-SL07RST 4K Standard Zoom Lens*3, which supports curved surface projection on domed ceilings and other unique installations. The lens features Canon's “Red Line” seal of excellent performance, certifying the RS-SL07RST as an extremely high-quality 4K lens. Using Ultra-low Dispersion glass, the lens projects high-resolution images with reduced color shift and minimal color bleeding. Its innovative Marginal Focus feature allows for accurate projection onto a spherical surface. In addition, it features a 1.34–2.35:1 throw ratio and a generous lens shift of ±73% vertical and ±11% horizontal*7.
The REALiS 4K5020Z offers expanded lens shift adjustments with a new Expanded Mode*6. In this Mode, lens shift capability extends +104% upwards, -104% downwards, and ±25% left or right. This provides a great amount of flexibility in a wide range of installation environments.
Canon's advanced, powerful dual image processing engines produce exceptional reproduction of virtually all content. The engines also allow the projector to offer a variety of features that help enhance the quality of still and motion images, making them more realistic and impactful. 4K Video Playback at Up to 60p Smoothly reproduce uncompressed 4K video at up to 60 frames per second for a natural, fluid feel and highly detailed, true-to-life content. Upscaling Non-4K content will be maximized utilizing two upscaling technologies of BiCubic and Canon's proprietary Shape Trace, which can detect contours of an image in a diagonal direction and performs interpolation, resulting in a stunningly smooth image.
The REALiS 4K5020Z supports High Dynamic Range (HDR), exhibiting bright highlights and deep blacks for a wider dynamic range. The wider dynamic range expands the contrast and the color, both extremely important factors when it comes to image accuracy. Combined with highly detailed 4K resolution, this helps provide the ultimate viewing experience.
Periodical calibration ensures maximum color and brightness performance. Canon's internal sensors make this process simple, adjusting gamma and brightness back to the original specification. Gamma Restore This calibration setting measures the RGB luminance of the projector's LCOS panels and corrects the gradation to the factory default setting*11. Light Source Calibration This function corrects the hue according to the aging variation in the laser output. The function automatically runs when the projector is shut down. However, users can manually execute this after 30 minutes of operation have passed.
