Sensitive Data at Risk

In today’s world, there’s a heightened awareness that confidential content is at risk. With ever-increasing regulation about how sensitive information is stored and protected, corporations and private citizens are expending more and more resources to secure their confidential data, including personal data, protected health records, images and videos.

If the Toshiba Encrypted USB Flash Drive becomes lost or stolen, there’s no need for concern. This robust device is equipped with a Brute Force Hack Defense Mechanism which will render all stored information irrecoverable after ten (10) consecutive unsuccessful attempts to enter the secure PIN.

Software Security Isn’t Enough

Enterprise companies spend millions of dollars purchasing, implementing and maintaining security software to protect confidential information. Yet software encryption generally requires continuous updates to be effective. If not properly updated or if inadvertently disabled by the user, sensitive data may be open to unauthorized access. And even when the software is properly enabled and maintained, it’s constantly scrutinized for vulnerabilities and is always susceptible to an unexpected hack.

A Better Solution: Toshiba’s New Encrypted

The Toshiba Encrypted USB Flash Drive utilizes a mini-keyboard to authenticate access. The drive also incorporates a rechargeable battery enabling users to authenticate access before plugging into a USB port. Users simply enter their secure PIN and plug the drive into any USB 2.0 port on a compatible device. Once access is authenticated, the drive “unlocks” the media, permitting access to all of the stored content. Once work is completed and the device is removed from the USB port, the drive automatically re-locks the data with a hardware based 256-bit, American Encryption Standard (AES)(2) algorithm, designed to meet the strict standards developed by the U.S. government for the protection of sensitive information.

Available in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB(1) capacities, Toshiba’s new Encrypted USB Flash Drive uses a hardware-based encryption process built into the device to deliver robust, secure, military-grade AES 256-bit encryption.(2) Built for security, this drive carries a FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) Publication 140-2 Level 3 certification, issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a certification often required by government agencies and other data security sensitive industries, such as healthcare and finance. A 140-2 Level 3 FIPS certification confirms the Encrypted USB Flash Drive meets stringent standards for tamper-resistance. Toshiba’s Encrypted USB Flash Drive offers an easy-to-use and highly affordable way to safely make sensitive data portable.
